To Gazette & approve a surveyor
When a suitably qualified person has applied to NMSA and has been positively vetted, they will receive a letter of appointment informing them of all NMSA requirements and the conditions to which they must comply. Their names will then be published on the National Gazette. The work of each gazetted surveyor will be assessed and appraised at approximately six months intervals. In the even that a surveyor is found to be mis-reporting the condition of the vessel or any other matter concerning survey for a safety certificate, their name will be removed from the list of Gazetted surveyors, they will no longer be authorized to undertake statutory surveys on behalf of the Authority and all PNG ship owners will be informed accordingly. |
