O Lord, who walked on the sea, and who winds and waves obeyed.

We pray for all mariners who sail large ocean going ships, coastal vessels, fishing boats and small craft.

Be with them as they weather the storms, guide them through rocks and dangerous reefs and ensure that their ships are robust and properly equipped.

Help them to follow their charts and not lose their course. Give us strength to heed their call and find them when they are in distress, and to ensure that we all do everything to keep the seas clean.

Reassure the sailors in times of rough seas, from fear of drowning, or when the lighthouse fails to shine.

May they hear your voice, “Peace! Be Still” that will calm the seas and guide them to the safety of the harbour.
