Other Charges & Fees

NMSA Fees are categorized under two areas, the Foreign Registered Vessels (Foreign Vessels) and PNG Registered Vessels (Local/Coastal Vessels) and charged according to different levies, fees and trade permit fees.

Under Foreign Registered Vessels, the total fee collected are from the following areas:

  1. Navigational Aids Levy
  2. Regulatory Levy
  3. Oil Spill Levy ( This fee is only applicable to OIL TANKERS)
  4. Coastal Trade Permit ( within PNG waters)

and

Under PNG Registered Vessels, the total fee collected are from the following areas:

  1. Navigational Aids Levy
  2. Regulatory Levy
  3. Coastal Trade Permit
  4. Coastal Trade License - No longer collected by NMSA
  5. Registration fees

The following shows the rates for each of the different fees.

1. Foreign Registered Vessels (Foreign vessels)

a) Navigational Aids Levy = K90.00 per metre per voyage
b) Regulatory Levy = K40.00 – from 24m to 100 m per voyage
  = K45.00 – from 101m to 200m per voyage
  = K50.00 – from 201 m and above per voyage
c) Oil Spill Levy = K10.00 per metre per voyage ( This fee is only applicable to OIL TANKERS)
d) Coastal Trade Permit = K200.00 per voyage within PNG waters

2. PNG Registered Vessels (Local/Coastal vessels)

a) Navigational Aids Levy = K60.00 per metre annually
b) Regulatory Levy = K35.00 – from 24m to 50m per year
  = K40.00 – from 50m to 100m per year
  = K45.00 – from 101m and above per year
c) Coastal Trade Permit = K140.00 per month
d) Coastal Trade Licence = K6.00 per metre per year
e) Registration fees = K30.00 per metre per year
