NMSA donates lifejackets - Papua New Guinea National Maritime Safety Authority
The National Maritime Safety Authority (NMSA) handed over 70 lifejackets to the Royal Papua Yacht Club as part of its commitment towards sea safety.
This is in response to a number of boating incidents and more recently, the tragic loss of two young brothers who went fishing in the same area that their father and uncle went missing three years ago.
NMSA Small Craft Safety Officer, Willie Kolip said: “NMSA donated the jackets as part of its commitment to safety at sea. There have been a number of people lost at sea around Port Moresby recently and some responsibility for this rests on the leadership in the National Capital District and Central Province who have consistently failed to meet their obligations to dinghy operators and passengers as required under the Small Craft Act.”
